Day 6-7

Sunday saw through most of the finishing touches to the machine, it is now almost complete (only a few details and touching up to be done)

The top of the machine now has tubes extruding from it and movable round speakers, the tubes will be different colours and be animated to slide up and down to add even more movement.

We have also been experimenting with lighting and found some interesting glowing effects with UV against the pink (see photo) so it is an option to shoot some shots with the UV.

The boxes have been positioned ready to fit the tube lights that are arriving on wednesday but shooting will start early tuesday regardless. We will be taking test shots and compiling them to form a story board so that it is clear what we have planned.

more pics...

More and more!

The machine is coming on leaps and bounds, we are almost ready to assemble all the boxes in the room, as well as create some totally outragous shoes! Some shoes have been given out to local artists and designers with the message - give the shoe a personality and character, the more bizarre and fun the better!

We ave configured some of the most complicated moving parts on the machine including piston powered dolls legs that play a keyboard, and tape reels.

All is on track to start filming early next week.

Day 3 of the build

Today there has been much progress with the machines image. Working our way down to the more detailed aspects, all of the main structure is now complete and ideas for specific animated parts have been flowing.

The wiring of LEDs has brought the machine to life and many moving objects have been embedding into the structure. These Include a painted keyboard, fan, the conveyor belt gubbins, an equalizer made of baubles, and cogs.

We also made a path of holes in the main body for a snakelike ducting tube to move and slide in and out of - the shot planned for this will be highly dynamic as part of the machine will wriggle out of the holes twisting and turning then dissapearing back before settling down to permanently form part of the structure. (see image of metal ducting launching out of a hole)

a busy day...

Today we worked out the basic shape of the machine and started to attach the basic objects. Managed to get loads done so the machine should be well on the way by the end of tomorrow.

so far we have added the basic non moving elements. Several moving, cause and effect elements are planned and will be added in the next few days - including moving dials/knobs/tubes/pipes/chimneys/legs and arms. this thing is going to be truly bonkers!

here's our progress in images:

Ordered the boxes...and a few other things!

Ordered the boxes from a site that lets you build your own, this way we were able to specify our exact dimensions and order a variety of sizes, these should arrive in a few days. also we got some corrugated paper, coloured vinyl tapes and some other choice parts!

Some more objects

These are some more of the objects that will be built into the machine, with more to be gathered in the coming days. We hope to have the machine constructed by next monday/tuesday, ready to start filming.
